Coober Pedy 3/29/09

This was an underground town with 80% of their population living in underground homes. It is an opal mining town. The original name was Kupa Piti named by the Aborigines meaning "silly white man in a hole." We stayed the night in underground bunkhouses. They have underground homes because it is cooler since the average temperature in that town is 90 degrees year round.
