Travels of Days 4 and 5

These pictures were taken while staying at Nicki's sisters house. Fish went turkey hunting at night and shot about 20 turkeys out of a tree. We went to pick them up the next morning. Needless to say, they don't have a turkey season or limit. The other scenery pictures were taken while we were still visiting the north island.

Our house

These are a couple of pictures from our house. We live right next to the Clutha River. All of the houses here are very cold because they were built with no insulation. We have to keep the wood stove going at all times or it gets a little chilly. We think it's very funny (and inconvenient) that all of the toilets are in a separate room from the bathroom. Unfortunately in our house the toilet is in the back porch - the complete opposite end from our bedroom. This used to be an outhouse and they built the house up to the toilet. We worked our first day on Friday and it was very muddy. We have the weekend off but unfortunately our TV broke today (with all of 3 channels!) so we have been trying to entertain ourselves. Travels of Day 1, 2 & 3

During our first 3 days of arrival we have been all over the north island. We visited the oldest building in New Zealand, traveled to the tip of the north island to Cape Reinga, visited a couple of museums of the Kauri trees - 45,000 years old and the oldest trees in the world, went to the Bay of Islands to visit the Maori treaty building and visited the 90 mile beach which is not actually 90 miles. We are finishing our touring today and getting on a plane to head to the south island.

We're Here!!!

We arrived safely in Auckland at 5:30 on Friday morning. From there we flew to KeriKeri on the north island by a plane with propellers and only 20 seats! We are staying with Nicki's sister and brother-in-law at their house. We will be leaving for the south island on Tuesday. We hope to have most of our pictures added when we get to our house. It has been a great trip so far. We have been on 4 different planes. We got to do a lot of touring yesterday and learn all about the native tribe the Maori's. The coast is beautiful and pictures cannot do it justice!
