Albatross
The albatross is a bird that the Kiwi's are very proud of. These birds have the largest wing span of any bird. We spent $40 to go to a museum just to see small albatross sitting and not moving the entire time we were there. On our fishing trip, we had the pleasure of seeing them up close and ready to attack! They enjoyed eating the fish that we were catching.
Kaikoura Fishing Trip
Our catch
We went on a fishing trip in Kaikoura over our holiday. We were fishing for sea perch and got quite a few as well as a couple of sharks. It was a little scary at first because the captain of the boat had nubs for fingers and only one leg. And - get this - it was a shark attack :) But once we saw how efficient he was around the boat we were no longer worried. I made the mistake of eating nachos for breakfast. Little did I know I was going to get sea sick. I spent the last part of the trip puking off of the front of the boat. But I caught a lot of fish before that!
Cherry Farm
These are Oma and Opa's cherry trees. Oma and Opa are Bianca's parents. They are Dutch. We had the pleasure of visiting their home and picking their delicious cherries. They have about 1500 cherry trees. Lucky for us we always have a full supply of cherries on hand. We never knew how much we loved them!

Christmas 12-25-08
The first pie I've ever made...Fish made the tree :)
We had a wonderful Christmas in New Zealand this year! We milked Christmas morning and then went and had breakfast and opened Christmas presents with our family. We got some awesome gifts and Fish was completely occupied with all of Nathan's Lego's. Around lunch time we headed to Bianca's parents' house where we met a lot of the family. They had a traditional Dutch Christmas dinner. It was a wonderful Christmas!
